It is always excellent news when one of our clients wins an award and recent recognition of Windermere Lodge at Tower Wood as winner of it's class in the Small Project category in the Society for Public Architecture, Construction, Engineering and Surveying (SPACES) Civic Building of the Year is no exception.

The eye-catching building, designed by Lancashire County Council's Design and Construction team was built be Seddon Construction and incorporates 26 bedrooms some of which have been adapted to allow children and young people with disabilities and their families to make full use of the centre's outdoor facilities.

As the company selected by Lancashire County Council to design and manufacture the bedroom furniture for the development we are more than pleased to have been involved in this award winning project.

Feedback following celebration of the opening event of our showroom at Special Spaces has been tremendous and it is good to have the opportunity to showcase examples of the diverse range of furniture that we are able to design and create.

When next we are asked "What type of furniture do you make?" we will extend an invitation to the showroom where clients can see, touch and examine examples of our diverse skills.

Whether seeking a cupboard for a bedroom or an installation to house a home cinema the abilities of the Lakeland Fells creative team know few boundaries, and if we did we would gladly find away to overcome them.

As for the moment, one of our challenges is the creation of bookcase units with soft close drawers, so keyboard to one side and back to the workshop floor.

Our team always enjoy meeting a challenge and the creation of work and leisure pods for new student accommodation in Lancaster certainly provided us with our most recent one.

The pods were designed to fit in the entrance area of the new Damside development in Lancaster.

Whilst wood is integral to the creation of all of our furniture we pride ourselves in providing solutions to complement any setting. The colourful pods were decorated using Formica laminate sheeting and are a further example of the wide range of finishes that we can provide to enhance those special spaces in your home or business.

The extension to our Special Spaces showroom is making excellent progress following a very busy week by our extended team of craftsmen. Rooms within rooms have been created in preparation for the installation of some very exciting smarter home technology from our colleagues at epixx

In addition to the range of British made kitchen and bedrooms available at Special Spaces we have designed, and our now creating, the bespoke cabinets and associated furniture that will house the technology, and complete the settings, within the new space.

Once complete our showroom will provide examples of a wide range the bespoke, fitted and specialised furniture and technology designed and created to provide solutions to maximise enjoyment of your home or business.

Our Special Spaces showroom facility at Woodland Road, Windermere is in the process of being extended.

The addition of two new showroom areas will enable us to introduce some exciting new concepts in home, leisure and business furnishings in addition to our refreshed range of fitted kitchen and bedroom settings.

Working with our colleagues at eppix, The Smarter Home Company,  we will also be introducing some innovative  concepts in home leisure and conference facilities. 

The changes will provide opportunity for us to display examples of our skills in the design and creation of bespoke hardwood furniture alongside samples of our British manufactured range of fitted furniture.

Lakeland Fells Furniture has been shortlisted as one of three finalists in this years Cumbria News Awards in Manufacturing Business of the Year category.

Innovia, Wigton and Sealy UK from Aspatria provide the very strong competition providing a very diverse shortlist from some of the larger, to the very much smaller, businesses operating in Cumbria.

"The competition is very stiff" commented Andrew Smith "to be nominated and reach the final shortlist in itself is something that the team at Lakeland Fells are already proud of achieving, to win....... well we shall just have to wait and see"

Following the recent award of Best Small Hotel of the Year at the Cumbria Tourism Awards the design team responsible were invited to celebrate the award with John and Caroline Kaye, owners of the Cedar Manor Hotel in Windermere.

Lakeland Fells Furniture has been responsible for creating the bespoke furniture that has helped to secure the award and, along with designer Alison Tordoff of Fidget Design, welcomes the commitment shown by Jonathan and Caroline Kaye in their desire to utilise locally based companies in their pursuit of excellence.

A call has gone out to steel manufacturers to help in a new world
record attempt – to make the world’s longest clothes peg.
Cumbrian fitted furniture specialists Lakeland Fells Furniture are
aiming to create the giant peg to raise money for charity, but they
need a giant-sized spring to make it work.

“We have the wood coming from a supplier, we have the tools, we have
expertise, but we need a big steel coil,” said managing director Andy
Smith

Windermere Marina Village selected Lakeland Fells Furniture to design, build and install bespoke bedroom furniture in their prestigious new apartment development overlooking the marina.
